Winston
H. Hsu is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical
Engineering at Columbia University, New York, USA, since Spring
2002, under the supervision of Prof.
Shih-Fu Chang. Before that, he had worked for years in a prominent
multimedia software start-up, CyberLink
Corp., where experiencing engineer, project leader, and R&D
manager. Besides, he is an alumnus of Communication
& Multimedia Lab, National Taiwan University. His researches
focus on information-theoretic frameworks towards large-scale
video structuring, information exploitation, semantic threading,
and retrieval across multiple sources and over time by utilizing
the recurrent patterns and hidden multi-modal semantics. His proposed
hypotheses are experimented through cross-site projects affiliated
with IBM
T.J. Watson Research Center and active participation in TRECVID
benchmark.
