A year ago, Ethiolist was born: one small e-mail by txt4@netcom.com turned into a giant leap taking Ethiopia deeper into cyberspace. If you are reading this, then you are one of the pioneers of this revolution in our history. And yet, what do you have to show for it? I mean really show, physically... Nothing! Now is your chance to change that. You can get a hip t-shirt, commemorating the first anniversary of Ethiolist. With this shirt you will
  • show the world you were part of this select community from the early days
  • instantly be identified by other Ethiolisters when you run into each other
  • have a great souvenir
  • be helping a very good cause
    • Please note that last point! All the profits from this will go to the ESS (Ethiopian Scientific Society) a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of science in Ethiopia. Specifically, it will be for the ESS awards program for 1995, prizes for outstanding AAU students and faculty. Since the beginning, you have probably wondered what you can do for Ethiolist and your country. This is your chance to help both at once: by wearing the shirt, you will promote ethiolist everywhere you go, and your money will help your country.

    Specify how many shirts you want, and what sizes (L or XL).

  • Then, send a check or money order for $8.00 (or more) per shirt by post to

    Make the check payable to Nemo Semret, Memo: Ethiolist. The total of $8.00 is your minimum payment for the shirt. However, if you wish to give more, feel free to do so. Every penny will go to ESS. And don't forget your return address!

  • Delivery of the shirt in the US takes 3 to 5 days.

    If you are not in the US, it will take a little longer, and you have to pay US$10.00

  • The cost of making the t-shirts is $5.00 each. This is what we pay the printing company.
  • Postage is $1.50 per shirt in the U.S. and $3.50 elsewhere (this is assuming it weighs 5 ounces -- if it's less, the balance will go, with the rest of the profits, to ESS) If you live in New York City, we can arrange for you to pick it up in person.
  • $1.50 is your minimum contribution to the good cause.
  • The minimum total is US$8.00 (respectively $10.00)
    • A complete list of orders and moneys received will be posted to Ethiolist and here on a regularly basis. If you do not want your name to appear on it, please say so when you place your order, and you will appear as "anonymous".

    We can only make the shirts in minimum batches of 50, so if you want to get yours as part of the first batch, order now!
